Sunday School
Come to Jesus, Bring Every Child to Jesus
Sunday school lays the foundation for biblical understanding. Sunday school provides not only Christian education but also brings Jesus into the hearts of children. The Mar Thoma Church recognized the importance of bringing up children in the ways of the Lord by teaching them Bible from the very young days. The Mar Thoma Sunday school Samajam formed in 1905 serves as the Central educational institution for children.
Our Parish started the Sunday school in 1913 while worshiping at the Amalloor School. An academic year of the Sunday school is from January to November. Every year, the program commences with a dedication ceremony for students and teachers. Classes are arranged for a period of 14 years from the age of 4 to 18, to obtain sound knowledge of scriptures and doctrines of the Church. After the completion of the Sunday school course, the student will be awarded with a Course Certificate from the Mar Thoma Sunday school Samajam.
From Nursery to Praudavakup we have 65 students and 14 talented and dedicated teachers. We follow the new curriculum based on the thought “Being God’s people in God’s world” of Mar Thoma Sunday school Samajam. Mid term examinations are held for all students in June. Final examinations are held in November. The Sunday school yearly program includes “My share for Mission” box collection, Talent shows, Vacation Bible School, World Sunday School Day, anniversary celebrations and Christmas presentations.
